Postdoctoral (MD) & Clinical Research Fellow in Hypertensive Heart Disease

Job Description

The Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute is offering a funded one- or two-year combined clinical and clinical research fellowship on hypertensive heart disease with Ronald Victor, MD. Advanced clinical training will meet eligibility criteria for American Society of Hypertension Specialist Examination. The position involves participation as an investigator in the Hypertension and Vascular Biology Clinical Research Center. Current projects have a special emphasis on vascular regulation and cardiomyopathy in patients with Muscular Dystrophy.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specialized research techniques include: muscle perfusion by contrast echocardiography, cardiac MRI and spectroscopy, endovascular biopsy, microneurography, and near infrared spectroscopy.

- Will be mentored to prepare career development grant proposals, but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
- Significant opportunities for publication will be available.
- Performs research experiments. Will keep appropriate experimental records and documentation.
- Compiles, summarizes, analyzes, and interprets data.
- May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.l

Desired Skills & Experience

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate (MD or PhD) in area directly related to field of research including: Cardiology, Endocrinology or Nephrology. Training in human cardiovascular physiology preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
MD candidates must be board eligible in Internal Medicine and will need to have valid CA medical license.

EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
