西班牙巴塞罗那光子科学研究所招收博士后
ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, a centre based in Castelldefels (Barcelona, Spain), devoted to research and education of the optical and photonic sciences at the highest international level, is offering a post-doctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will be part of an emerging project carried out by Dr Simon Wall’s newly established Ultrafast Optical Dynamics of Solids group. The group focuses on measuring and manipulating the structural, magnetic and electronic properties of solids on femtosecond timescales and nanometre length scales, with short pulses of light.
The candidate will play a key role in establishing and building new experimental optical techniques to study and manipulate magnetic and electronic states of materials with high temporal and spatial resolution. This work will be performed mainly at ICFO, but will involve the use of various user facilities in the USA and elsewhere in Europe.
Eligibility and Conditions
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future), preferably in physics.
Experience with either: ultrafast lasers and non-linear optics, microscopy and spectroscopy of solids, or highly correlated/magnetic materials are highly desired.
No restrictions of citizenship apply to the ICFO post-doctoral contracts.
The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to 3 years.
Application procedure
The formal application should be submitted online via http://jobs.icfo.eu/index.php?detail=99.
Suitable candidates are requested to submit:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interests,
- Curriculum vitae, including contact details,
- The contact e-mail of two potential referees.
Candidates should be willing to be contacted by phone during the selection process.
Candidates may contact icfojobs@icfo.eu for informal inquiries regarding the application, as well as address scientific inquiries to simon.wall@icfo.eu.
Deadlines
The call will remain open until a suitable candidate has been identified.
