Job Description
The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State University is an integral part of one of the leading research universities in the nation and serves as a university center of excellence in Defense science and technologies, with a focus in naval missions and related areas. The Information Science and Technology (IS&T) Division of ARL is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow. The IS&T Division conducts cutting edge multidisciplinary research in the areas of: wireless networks, information assurance and cyber security, and embedded computer systems; sensor networks and sensor data fusion; unmanned autonomous systems collaboration and mission planning; machine learning, and analyses for data from information to knowledge to decision; distributed systems; and control systems. ARL is an organizational unit of Penn State at the main campus at University Park, and our research faculty are involved in multi-disciplinary collaborations with faculty from several academic departments and advanced research centers.
You will conduct cutting edge research in the areas of sensor fusion, intelligent control, networked systems, FPGA-based design, machine learning, and information assurance. You will be encouraged to enhance your research credentials through publications, to guide graduate and undergraduate students, and to progress to research faculty positions in the Division by participating in collaborative grant proposal writing activities. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related field and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: sensor networks; sensor fusion; intelligent control; distributed information systems; information assurance; cyber security; autonomous systems; dynamic control; embedded computer systems; and FPGA-based design. Expertise in information assurance and design of computer systems hardware and software are desirable. This is a fixed-term renewable appointment. YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN TO APPLY.
