One postdoctoral position is available in the group of Pura Muñoz-Cánoves at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Department of Experimental and Health Sciences (Cell Biology Unit), in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), Barcelona, Spain. Research in the group is focused at identifying novel mechanisms involved in adult tissue repair, with a special interest in skeletal muscle growth and regenerative response upon injury or disease. We also have interest on transcription-coupled signal transduction pathways mediating muscle stem cell behavior.
Description

One postdoctoral position is available in the group of Pura Muñoz-Cánoves at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Department of Experimental and Health Sciences (Cell Biology Unit), in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), Barcelona, Spain. Research in the group is focused at identifying novel mechanisms involved in adult tissue repair, with a special interest in skeletal muscle growth and regenerative response upon injury or disease. We also have interest on transcription-coupled signal transduction pathways mediating muscle stem cell behavior.   The project is part of our ongoing efforts to understand the role of p38 MAP kinases in muscle formation, regeneration and growth in vivo and of the mechanisms underlying fibrosis development during dystrophy progression (see e.g. Perdiguero et al, EMBO J 2007; Serrano et al, Cell Metabol, 2008; Vidal et al, Genes Dev, 2008). Specifically, the candidate fellow will be responsible for the generation and characterization of new mouse models for the investigation of the referred aims. In addition, the postdoc is expected to participate and/or initiate other projects related to the laboratory major interests (inflammation and fibrosis).   Qualifications Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. in Life Sciences are encouraged to apply. The most likely successful candidate will have excellent previous experience in cellular biology. Moreover, it will be an advantage if the candidate has worked with the generation and characterization of transgenic mice, and has a strong background in molecular biology.   Terms of salary and employment The appointment is for 2 years (Postdoc), and is scheduled to start as soon as possible.
