Post-doctoral position in Neuronal Regeneration
Temple University Medical School, Philadelphia

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Toby Ferguson in the Shriners Hospital Pediatric Research Center (SHPRC) at Temple University Medical School, Philadelphia. We use animal models of nerve injury, genetically modified mice, molecular biological, imaging, and electrophysiologic approaches to study axon regeneration and degeneration in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. Our goal is to understand the important molecular regulators of axon growth in both the normal acute injury response and in models of nerve injury relevant to human disease.

The ideal candidate will be a talented, motivated scientist, who has recently obtained their Ph.D. or expects to obtain one in the near future. Experience in molecular biology, mouse genetics, and rodent surgery is preferable. Experience with confocal and two-photon microscopy would also be advantageous. The position is for an initial period of 2 years and is available immediately.

The SHPRC is a highly collaborative working environment with excellent core facilities including 2-photon and confocal microscopes. We are located just minutes from downtown Philadelphia.
