job description
Postdoctoral position at the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG), Bellaterra, Barcelona, Spain: Study of the impact of transposition on plant genome evolution using bioinformatic approaches.
The group of Dr. Casacuberta is using genome-wide approaches in Arabidopsis and melon to study the impact of transposable elements on plant genes and genomes. A 1-year postdoctoral position is open to contribute to this study. The candidate will collaborate in different projects, including the study of transposon amplification of transcription factor binding sites in Arabidopsis, as well as exploiting whole-genome resequencing data to identify transposon movement during melon domestication and breeding.
The laboratory is looking for a postdoctoral scientist with a PhD in bioinformatics/plant molecular biology, with a strong background in genome-wide analyses and knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques. Previous knowledge of plant genome structure and evolution and transposable element biology will be an asset.
The proposed start date is June 2012.
Candidates should send CV, publication list and names of three references through our web.
Please visit the webpage of CRAG (www.cragenomica.es) to apply online (Ref 8/2012).
