美国纪念斯隆-凯特林癌症中心有机化学博士后职位
job description
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Kircher Lab (http://www.mskcc.org/research/lab/moritz-kircher) for a highly motivated individual with an organic chemistry background. The Kircher lab aims at the development of new multimodality pre- and intraoperative in vivo molecular imaging approaches for cancer. Modalities of interest include MRI, Photoacoustic Imaging and, in particular, Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS). SERS is a novel molecular imaging approach that is based on the strong enhancement of the Raman “fingerprint” of dyes that are adsorbed on noble metal surfaces of nanoparticles. Since the Raman fingerprint is unique for a specific molecule, adsorbing different dyes on nanoparticles enables multiplexing. Our goal is to develop SERS-active dyes that allow adsorption to noble metal surfaces and as such will expand our SERS-active multimodal nanoparticle library.
Application Requirements
The candidate must have a recent PhD degree in organic chemistry with a demonstrated record of achievements and publications. We are seeking a chemist with expertise in the synthesis of UV/VIS or (N)IR dyes or related structures, but, preferably, also with expertise in other synthesis fields such as peptide synthesis or polymer chemistry. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team / collaborative environment are required.
The successful candidate is expected to perform mentored independent research and is encouraged to develop own research ideas (within the scope of the lab’s interest). The ability to be self-driven in the synthetic aspects of the work is essential. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. MSKCC offers dedicated housing for postdoctoral fellows. This is a 1-year appointment with possibility of renewal for up to 3 years based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and on-going operational needs.
Accommodation
Our lab is located in the Mortimer Zuckerman Research Center of the Sloan-Kettering Institute of MSKCC, on the same floor as other molecular imaging and nanotechnology as well as radiopharmacy laboratories. Members of the laboratory have access to a total of 34 core facilities at MSKCC, including analytical NMR, and imaging core facilities. MSKCC is located in a vibrant center of world-renowned biomedical research and clinical medicine in New York’s Upper East Side, being located directly adjacent to Rockefeller University, the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Cornell campus of the New York Presbyterian University Hospital. The vast resources within MSKCC and these surrounding institutions will help to facilitate the success of the applicant’s projects and enable to establish invaluable collaborations with other laboratories.
How to apply:
Applicants should submit their CV, a letter outlining interest and motivations and names and contact information of two referees to kircherm@mskcc.org.
