Title: Post-doctoral fellowship on the “Generation of localized waves and their applications to FSO communications and indoor optical wireless”

Summary
Duration: 1 year, renewable for one more year.
Fellowship amount: Monthly allowance for subsistence of BR$ 5.333,40 (tax free) + annual grant of BR$ 9.600,12 for small expenses related to research.
Location: Department of Microwaves and Optics (DMO), School of Electrical and Computer Enginering (FEEC), University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Description: A postdoctoral position is available, under the supervision of Professors Hugo E Hernandez Figueroa and Michel Zamboni Rached, and supported by the Optics and Photonics Research Center (CePOF), http://cepof.ifi.unicamp.br/ , and the National Institute of Science and Technology FOTONICOM, http://fotonicom.ifi.unicamp.br/en . The main goal is to work on the generation of localized waves capable to resist both diffraction and losses for long distances [1-5], and apply this concept to improve the efficiency of Free Space Optics (FSO) and indoor optical wireless systems. The selected candidate should conduct experiments and simulations, co-advise graduate and undergraduate students, engage in international collaborations, and interact strongly with other groups.
He or she should lead the implantation of a laboratory dedicated to the generation and experimental study of localized waves, and also participate actively in the application of these concepts to a FSO and indoor optical wireless links, which will work connected to our KyaTera dark-fiber testbed (http://kyatera.ifi.unicamp.br/index.php/us ).
Profile and Experience: Requirements include a PhD in electrical engineering or physics. Objective writing, good communication and inter-personal relationships. Previous experience in optical communications (physical layer), photonics, and optoelectronics, is desirable, but exceptional and highly motivated candidates with no experience in those areas will be considered.
Language: reading and writing fluency in English, and speaking/listening fluency in at least one of the following languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian.
