Salary up to £33,734 per annum

The Centre for Communication Systems Research is seeking to recruit one full time researcher, initially for 1 year but extendable to longer term depending on performance. The work is funded through a project in the EU ICT Framework Program.

For this opening, the successful candidate will be required to have postdoctoral research experience in University or Industry environments. Their areas of specialisation should be in the field of wireless sensor networks, service architectures or similar related subjects.

Good analytical and/or simulation skills are essential. Applicants are expected to be proactive, to support other researchers and to be self-motivated. Experience in protocols and technologies for WSNs or service provision is expected. Programming skills to model and partly implement concepts are required. Advanced proficiency in at least one of the following areas is required:

Distributed machine learning in resource constraint environments
Activity recognition using (mobile) sensing systems
Participatory and opportunistic mobile sensing
User profiling and user behaviour modelling
Context management systems
Applicants should have a good honors degree in communications or electronic engineering, in computer science or another related discipline. Preference will be given to those with proven research and publications track record preferably with PhD and/or practical industrial experience.

You will join an established research centre within a 5*A research rated EE department with a large scale wireless testbed for experimental proof of concept, excellent computing and software infrastructure for first class research, modern facilities and close links with industry.
