Candidates for several postdoctoral scientist and one research assistant positions are currently being sought to work on the identification and characterization of molecular players involved in host-microbe interactions through comparative and functional genomics of commensals and probiotic bacteria, in particular bifidobacteria. The appointees will work in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC: http://apc.ucc.ie; a Science Foundation Ireland-funded Centre for Science Engineering and Technology) and will be part of the Functional genomics core of the APC.
Description

Candidates for the postdoctoral posts, which will be full-time, fixed-term contract appointments, should hold a PhD degree in genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology or microbiology, or related discipline, and should possess relevant research experience, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, and ideally have excellent communication and bioinformatics skills. Candidates for the research assistant position, also a full-time, fixed-term contract appointment, should an MSc degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology or related discipline, and ideally possess experience in small animal handling. Applications should include a cover letter, a comprehensive curriculum vitae and the names of (at least) two referees. Applications will be accepted until the posts are filled, selection of candidates will commence as from December 10th, 2011, salary will be commensurate with relevant experience.
