Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed-term Postdoctoral Researcher contract position in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Flaus in the Centre for Chromosome Biology, National University of Ireland Galway. The position is initially for 15 months and is available immediately.

Essential skills:
•PhD in biochemistry or molecular biology.
•Highly motivated and experience in protein structure-function or chromatin research.
•Research published in the international peer-reviewed literature.

Desirable attributes include:
•Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification by FPLC.
•Experience in quantitative biochemical assays of chromatin function.
•Experience in gel filtration chromatography, native gel electrophoresis, DNA footprinting, fluorescence-based in vitro assays, automated liquid handling systems and/or 3D structure visualisation. Development of novel assay methods.

This Science Foundation Ireland funded project is ongoing and seeks to understand structure-function relationships within the nucleosome using site-directed mutagenesis and a range of biochemical assays.
