The Protein Folding and Design group led by Salvador Ventura at the Institute of Biotechnology and Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to apply to the Juan de la Cierva 2012 call, a program from the Spanish Government that finances 3-year contracts to postdoctoral scientists. (http://www.micinn.es/) The contract could start mid 2012.

The group investigates the Molecular Mechanisms of Protein Folding, Misfolding and Aggregation and their relationship to human disease. Current projects include the identification of proteins involved in novel conformational disorders and the identification and experimental characterization of novel prion proteins in different organisms. Towards these aims we combine computational and experimental approaches. See http://ibb.uab.es for the group’s publications.

For the position you must hold a recent PhD (or be near its completion) and have a minimum of two first-author publications. You should have a strong interest in structural biology and conformational disorders. Familiarity with relevant experimental techniques in Molecular Biology and/or Protein Chemistry and/or Biophysics and/or Bioinformatics and Programming is a requirement.
