The National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) is Wales's first Biomedical Research Centre, funded by a grant from the National Institute for Social Care and Health Research and based at the Department of Psychological Medicine & Neurology of Cardiff University. This postdoctoral position will be part of a strategy to link the existing expertise in genetics/genomics and brain imaging with clinical and translational research. You will participate in the acquisition and analysis of structural and functional MRI, MEG and PET data from healthy individuals and patients with neuropsychiatric disorders (particularly dementia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) and should have a strong research background in at least one of these techniques. Advanced analysis tools have been established at Cardiff's brain imaging (CUBRIC) and PET centre (PETIC) and you will be trained to use them. You will also be expected to train other researchers and clinicians in the use of these tools and to develop new analysis routines. Outreach to collaborators in the NHS and service users and carers is an important component of the post.
You will be part of an enthusiastic team of researchers with backgrounds ranging from genetics, molecular biology and psychiatry to MR physics and computer science. Ample opportunity for professional development, for example through regular retreats and conference attendance, will be provided.
This post is fixed term for 2 years and 6 months.
Salary: £29972 - £35788 per annum.
