*Overview: *
The Centre for Quantum Dynamics seeks a person with strong experimental physics skills to play a key research role in the areas of attosecond science. The successful applicant will work on projects of Associate Professor Robert Sang.

_This is a fixed term (2 years,) full time position based at the Nathan campus, Queensland, Australia. _

*The role: *
We have an open position for a postdoctoral researcher working on a research project involving the Australian Attosecond Science Facility. The research project is funded thought the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Coherent X-Ray Science. This facility is unique in Australia and is based around a 7 fs carrier-phase stabilized amplified titanium sapphire laser with a peak output power of 30 GW. We seek a suitably qualified person to utilise this facility in the production, characterisation and application of attosecond light pulses. This project will also investigate novel aspects of the application of light with metastable neon atoms to study controlled atomic collision processes via amplified few-cycle light pulses using a reaction microscope. The appointee will contribute ideas within the research program, undertake experiments and data analysis, assist in supervising Research Higher Degree (e.g. PhD) students, write manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and contribute to the overall coordination of the project.

*The person: *
The candidate must have a PhD or postdoctoral experience in a relevant area of experimental physics (e.g. high harmonic generation, ultra-fast lasers, vacuum technology, high-field physics) and a demonstrated expert knowledge in experimental science. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are also required, as well as technical writing skills and the ability to transmit research results into published research outcomes. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is also required.

*Salary range: *
Research Fellow, Grade 1: AUD $61,914 – AUD $72,831 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: AUD $72,440 – AUD $85,212 per annum.
