We are looking for

We are looking for an ambitious post-doctoral fellow with a background in agro-ecology, spatial ecology and modelling. The fellow will develop spatially explicit models for calculating delivery of mobile-agent based ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes. The research wil include analysis of plant species composition in semi-natural habitats, literature and data base analysis on relationships between plant species and ESS-providing arthropods, modelling of ESS delivery in time and space, and engagement with stakeholder in two study regions (Hoeksche Waard and Flevoland).

The postdoc will develop actionable knowledge on the relationship between (semi-natural) habitats and their plant communities in agricultural landscapes, the insect communities living in these, and the provision of ecosystem services (ESS) to agriculture at landscape scale. Such knowledge is critical for designing landscapes that exploit the potential of biodiversity (species and ecosystem level) to enhance the provision of the ecosystem services of biological control and pollination in agriculture.
 

We ask

The successful applicant has a PhD Degree in Agriculture or Quantitative Ecology and has a proven track record in research on ecosystem services modelling at the landscape level. The applicant is highly motivated to continue a scientific career, is able to perform independent research but values the benefits of collaboration, is fluent in English and a skilled writer as demonstrated by first authorships of peer reviewed scientific papers in highly ranked journals. Furthermore, the candidate should have excellent communication skills for working with stakeholders, colleagues and students.

We offer

An appointment of one year with possibility of extension.
The minimum salary is € 3195,- and maximum is € 4374,- per month depending on experience.
