Description of the project:
A postdoctoral position is available under the supervision of Prof. Benoni Edin in the Department of Integrative Medical Biology (Physiology Section) at the University of Umeå, in Sweden. The candidate will be trained in the microneurography technique to perform behavioral and neurophysiological experiments in awake-behaving human subjects to investigate the physiology of muscle spindle afferents (e.g., Dimitriou M and Edin BB, Curr Biol, 2010). In addition to ongoing experiments with well-developed protocols, the candidate will be given the freedom and resources to develop their own research program. Methodologies and techniques available in the lab include basic neurophysiological techniques (EMG, EEG, etc.), 3D position and force measurements systems, servo actuators, TMS/ rTMS, and brain imaging (fMRI), and a variety of custom built experimental tools.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a background in physiology, practical experience analyzing complex data and a proven track record of publications. A doctoral degree, not more than three years old, is required.
