job description
We are looking to recruit (a) highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow(s) to join a very dynamic research group focusing on Bionanomaterials. The laboratory is (July 1st 2011) part of the Adolphe Merkle Institute (http://www.am-institute.ch/en), a recently established independent center of competence at the University of Fribourg, which focuses on research in the area of soft nano- and materials science.
Research interests of our group focus on 1) synthesis and characterization of well defined inorganic nanoparticles, 2) particle surface functionalization schemes, 3) nanoparticle-cell interactions, and 4) medical applications of such particles.
We use the entire spectrum of techniques, which are embedded in a chemically/materials science as well as biologically driven research group that aims at systematic understanding of nanomaterials in biological environments at a basic level while keeping a rigorous translational perspective.
Responsibilities: after a training period, the successful applicant will self-reliantly plan and conduct experiments, he/she will be responsible for graduate students and will be involved in writing scientific manuscripts and at a later point project proposals.
Requirements: Expertise in nanoparticle synthesis, characterization techniques, and/or surface functionalization.
Successful applicants have a strong publication record, creative thinking and good team spirit as well as excellent written English and oral communication skills. (Long term) goal: group leader position
The position is open from 1.12.2011.
