The Program of Public Health at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in air pollution exposure assessment and/or environmental epidemiological research.

For exposure assessment work, the duties include: 1) working with spatial data; 2) developing and validating statistical models for air pollution exposure assessment based on measurement data; 3) developing methods to post-process global positioning system (GPS) time-activity tracking data; and 4) running air quality dispersion model and validating the model against measurement data.

For air pollution epidemiological work, the duties include: 1) managing and processing large health databases; and 2) statistical analyses of air pollution exposure and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Required qualifications include a PhD in environmental health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental engineering, Cartography and Geography Information System, or similar areas at the time of appointment and demonstrated experience in research of air pollution exposure assessment and/or environmental epidemiology. Preference will be given to those individuals who are either familiar with air pollution exposure assessment methods (particularly spatial modeling) and/or biostatics. Candidates are expected to be self motivated and to possess excellent written and oral communication skills. This position is available for immediate employment.
