job description
A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the laboratory of Dr. Rickard Sandberg (Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm) in close collaboration with Professor Sten Eirik Jacobsen (Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford and guest professor at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm).
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with relevant experience in bioinformatics and genomic analyses. The successful candidate should have a PhD in molecular biology, bioinformatics, computer science or related fields, and an excellent publication record. Knowledge of statistics and experience with a scripting language (Perl or Python) or R/Bioconductor are necessary. Prior experience with analysis of high-throughput sequencing data or gene expression analyses would be preferable.

Research description:
We are interested in the generation and analyses of high-throughput sequencing data (mostly RNA-Seq) to study transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene regulation in different normal and leukemic hematopoietic stem and progenitor populations, with the goal of modelling cellular hierarchies and key regulatory pathways. We will be using a novel RNA-Seq protocol applicable to genome-wide transcriptome profiling of low cell numbers of FACS-purified cell populations. The Postdoc will be involved in two highly competitive projects and will be working in close collaboration with personnel in both labs.
Environments
The Jacobsen lab is located at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford (www.imm.ox.ac.uk) in a world-leading research environment for normal and malignant hematopoiesis research. Sandberg’s lab (http://sandberg.cmb.ki.se) is located in the Department for Cell and Molecular Biology in Karolinska Institutet, a top basic research institution, and the lab has strong expertise in genome-wide techniques and computational analyses of gene regulation, including RNA-Seq analyses fro few cells.
