Calling for expressions of interest in a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Queensland Quantum Optics Laboratory, ARC Centre of Excellence in Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS). The successful candidate will work with PhD students on the development of quantum opto-mechanical systems (QOMS) based on integrated optical microresonators. A particular focus of the position will be the development of nonlinear opto-mechanical systems using strong electrical actuation and intrinsic mechanical nonlinearities. These systems will enable progress in fundamental problems such as the generation of non-classical mechanical states, and applications in metrology and sensing.
EQuS is a newly established Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence which seeks to engineer complex, multi-component, quantum systems and apply them to fundamental problems in physics, cross-disciplinary science, and new technologies. The position is available immediately, but flexible depending on the situation of the appointee. The ideal candidate will have a strong PhD in experimental quantum optics/photonics, and the ability to work well in a team environment. The position is full-time, fixed term for up to three years with remuneration in the range of
AU$79,511 to AU$106,689 per annum including 17% employer superannuation depending on experience.
