Postdoctoral Position: Herpes T Cell Immunity and Immune Evasion

DESCRIPTION: Applications are invited from post-doctoral scientists to work on molecular and
Cellular aspects of herpes and cancer vaccine design and development. The project will focus on T cell epitope mapping, the assessment and development of a variety of systems aimed at optimizing the induction of CD4 and CD8 cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses in animal models (HLA transgenic mice, guinea pigs and Rabbits) and in humans. These include-epitopes based vaccine using lipopeptides and prime-boost strategies using lipopeptide/Adenoviruses. Cellular Immunology (FACS, T cell assays etc…) experience, and familiarity with animal (mice, guinea pigs and rabbits) cell cultures, cytotoxic T Lymphocyte assays would be advantageous. There will be ample learning opportunities on how to write manuscript and grants, interaction with other groups at the Institute for Immunology.
The position must be filed immediately, and is part funded by the NIH for 3-4 years with the possibility of extension. The positions are funded at post-doctoral and Research Associate levels but outstanding senior post-doctoral applicants are encouraged to apply, because the position might lead to faculty position in the future. In this event there would be an appropriate adjustment in salary and duties. The starting salary will be within the range $39,500 – $44,500 per year.
