job description

ETH Zurich is inviting applications for a postdoctoral fellow in the field of

Computational Drug-Target Identification.

The 2-year position is hosted by the group of Prof. Heinz Koeppl at ETH Zurich (see www.bison.ethz.ch). Goal of the project is to develop novel target identification methods based on models of combinatorial signaling dynamics together with advanced sensitivity analysis. The considered case study is an important disease relevant signaling network; the project is performed in collaboration with Novartis Institute of BioMedical Research (NIBR) Basel. Planned milestones involve extension of existing models through bioinformatics databases (2) validating the dynamic model in perturbation scenarios and identifying optimal intervention points through a generalized sensitivity analysis, (3) performing validation experiments at NIBR Basel.

We are seeking outstanding candidates with a good mathematical understanding and experience in dynamical modeling of biochemical reaction networks. The candidate may hold a Ph.D. degree in computer science, applied mathematics, bioinformatics, physics, electrical engineering or biochemistry. The yearly gross salary amounts to EUR 80k. Wet-lab experience is highly appreciated and the successful candidate is expected to acquire necessary wet-lab skills as needed. Candidates should send their publication list and CV including the names and contact details of at least three references per email (in a single pdf) to: koeppl@ethz.ch

Application deadline: 04.11.2011 (although application will be considered until the position is filled)
