Kymab is a biopharmaceutical company based at the Babraham Research Campus near Cambridge, UK. We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD level scientist to join our Antibody Discovery Group to support establishing our antibody drug discovery platform. This lab-based position is a key role in a multi-disciplinary team focussing on the identification, isolation and characterisation of human antibodies. The main focus would be to evaluate and implement technology for B cell-based screening and high throughput cloning approaches. An in depth understanding of B-cell related immunology and the immune repertoire is therefore essential as is hands on experience with molecular cloning of antibodies and associated flow based methods. Previous employment in the Biotech or Pharma industry is highly desirable.

Requirements:
• Relevant PhD (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience
• In-depth understanding of therapeutic antibody generation and the development of monoclonal antibodies as therapeutic drugs
• Strong antibody-related immunology background in particular B-cell biology and the in vivo antibody generation process
• Hands-on, lab-based experience in high throughput molecular biology and FACS methods
• A background in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities would include:
• Develop strategy for establishing a platform for B-cell based generation and identification of human antibody leads
• Implement the strategy by using up to date molecular biology methods and automation to enable an efficient a robust process
• General molecular biology support for the Antibody Discovery Group
• Provision of clear reports and internal/external presentations as required and participation in group and company meetings
• Maintenance of accurate and clearly written laboratory notebooks and other records to standard required for publications and patent filings
